
Golden Flashes End Regular Season With Win Over Falcons

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics team (5-7, 2-4 MAC) posted its second-best score of the season to beat Bowling Green (1-10, 0-6 MAC) in the regular season finale on Friday night.
The Golden Flashes used a season-high 49.250 on bars to jump start the evening in the first rotation. Rachel DeCavitch recorded a career-high 9.900 and tied for first place on the event. All counting scores were 9.800+ with Karlie Franz and Jade Brown tying for third place with a score of 9.875.
"We were extremely pleased with tonight's meet," said Head Coach Brice Biggin. "We talked about coming out strong and keeping our intensity up throughout the meet. The entire team really did a fantastic job. It was a great way to finish the regular season on a high note going into MAC Championships."
Kent State's 18th-ranked floor lineup showed why it's the best in the Mid-American Conference with an impressive 49.375. It was the Flashes' second-best floor routine of the season. Toshi Richard and Rachel DeCavitch tied for first place with a score of 9.900.
Abby Fletcher tied for third place on floor with a score of 9.875, while her teammates Jade Brown and Olivia Amodei tied for fifth with a 9.850.
Amodei and Karlie Franz both tied for first place on vault with a score of 9.800, while Sarah Haxton continued her impressive freshman season with a third-place finish on beam (9.800). Â
DeCavitch placed second in the all-around competition. She posted her highest all-around score of the season (39.225) to help the Flashes across the board.

The Golden Flashes head to MAC Championships on Saturday, March 20, at 2 p.m., in Kalamazoo, Mich. After MAC Championships, Kent State will wait to see which regional site they will travel to the following week.
