Kent State Drops Friday Twin Bill to RedHawks

OXFORD, Ohio – Kent State lost twice to Miami on Friday afternoon by scores of 3-0 and 7-3.
The Golden Flashes (22-23, 18-13 MAC) led 3-0 in the nightcap but allowed the RedHawks to rally for the win.
Seniors Kennadie Goth and Kaitlyn Miller were the offensive catalysts with two hits in each game.
Game 1: Miami 3, Kent State 0
Kennadie Goth and Kaitlyn Miller had a pair of hits each, but Kent State was unable to advance a runner safely past first base until the top of the sixth inning.
Miami hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the third and added a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth for the game's only runs.
Jessica LeBeau (13-11) totaled three strikeouts while going the distance in the circle.
Game 2: Miami 7, Kent State 3
The Golden Flashes loaded the bases in the top of the first inning on singles by Brooklyn Whitt and Kaitlyn Miller as well as a walk drawn by Emily Lippe. Sabrina Kerschner was then hit by a pitch on what would have been ball four to make it 1-0.
The top of the second began with a walk to Olivia Sborlini and single by Jade Ramer. After advancing a base on a sac bunt by Kennadie Goth, Sborlini and Ramer both scored on a single up the middle by Whitt.
Miami plated two runs in the bottom of the second and took the lead with a two-run homer in the fourth. The RedHawks added three in the sixth inning.
Kent State totaled nine hits in the game. Goth, Whitt, Miller and Ramer led the way with two hits apiece.
Gabbie Sherman (7-10) got the start in the circle and allowed three earned runs over four innings. Morgan Bowers had two strikeouts and allowed two earned runs over two innings in relief.

Kent State and Miami will conclude the series with another doubleheader on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
