Six Golden Flashes Earn Scholar All-American Distinction

KENT, OHIO- Six members of the Kent State men's golf team were named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholars by the Golf Coaches' Association of America (GCAA) as announced by the Association.
Cade Breitenstine, Josh Gilkison, WIll Kurtz, Julien Patrinieri, Chris Vandette and Jared Wilson all earned the honor. To be eligible, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically. They also must participate in 40-percent of his team's competitive rounds plus have a stroke-average under 76.0 to earn the honor at the Division-I level. In the classroom, the golfer must maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2 and be in good standing at his college or university.
These awards wrap up an incredible year for the Golden Flashes who captured their 27th Mid-American Conference title in program history, doing so in runaway fashion, besting second-place Northern Illinois by 13 strokes. In the classroom. the Golden Flashes posted the second-best term grade-point average in program history. The six golfers earning Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar status brings the total to 41 All-American Scholars in program history.
