
Cross Country Set for NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships

The Kent State cross country program will begin postseason competition Friday at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, hosted by Indiana State at LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with the women's 6k race, and the men's 10k will follow at 11 a.m.
Previewing the Flashes
The Golden Flashes' men sit at No. 14 in the latest USTFCCA Men's Cross Country Great Lakes Regional Poll. Last time out, Baidy Ba and Joe Farley became the first Kent State runners to record sub-24:00 times in the men's 8k in a conference championship, leading the Flashes to a fifth-place finish at the 2022 Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championships. Ba earned All-MAC First Team honors thanks to a seventh-place finish with a time of 23:55.6, while Farley placed ninth with a personal-best 23:56.7, earning a spot on the All-MAC Second Team. Shadrack Kipkosgei (25:03.8), Ethan Yost (25:04.0), and Jonah Cuestas (25:26.0) also scored for the Flashes.
The Kent State women placed eighth in the 6k race at the MAC Championships, as six runners set personal-best times. Leah Lisle was the first to cross the finish line in 21:47.8 for 33rd place. Nina Zraik and Sydney Gallagher finished back-to back with times of 21:59.5 and 22:09.4, respectively, placing 42nd and 43rd. Nicole DiCicco (22:19.7) and Ariana Manos (22:25.0) rounded out the Flashes' scorers.
Up Next for the Flashes
The top two teams in each race will qualify for the NCAA Championships on Nov. 19. Additionally, the top four individual finishers not on an advancing team will earn a spot at the national meet in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
