Flashes Set To Host Arkansas-Pine Bluff Wednesday Afternoon

KENT, Ohio - The Kent State men's basketball team (3-0) returns to the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center for their second game in the challenging 3-game home stand this week. The Flashes are coming in hot after a 77-65 win against the former undefeated team Portland.
The Golden Flashes look to extend their record 4-0 for the first time since the 2019-20 season when the Flashes went 20-12 overall. This will be the first time in program history the Kent State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff meet.
Rob Senderoff's Golden Flashes have dominated at the MACC, creating one of the best home-court advantages in the Mid-American Conference. Over the past 11 seasons, the Flashes hold a 129-45 (.741) record at home. Kent State has not lost more than four home games in a single season since 2016-17, and the team has a 50-13 record at home during that time.
Duo Malique Jacobs and Sincere Carry continue to be a force to be reckoned with leading their offense in points and assists. Cli'Ron Hornbeak is keeping the defense impactful and making chances off the board to create a number of rebounds. While the Flashes have starters that people will continue to talk about, their bench has created differences in games and is effective at every opportunity given.
About Golden Lions
This will be the first time the Golden Lions will travel to Kent, Ohio to play in the MAC Center. The Golden Lions are looking to come back from a tough 58-66 loss against Oklahoma on Nov. 11.
The Golden Lions return only two players from their last season and added five freshmen and eight transfers to the 2022-23 squad. The Flashes will be keeping an eye on Shaun Doss Jr. who has already posted a team-high 75 points, putting him first in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Kyle Milton follows him with 47 points and is ranked fourth. Ismael Plet has also been helping the Golden Lions significantly recording a double-double in their last game collecting ten points and rebounds.
The team as a whole averaged 66 points while shooting 39 percent from the field (102-262) and 31 percent from the three (31-99) in their first three games of the season.
