Houston, TX - The Kent State men's basketball (5-1) team will end their road trip in Houston against the No.2 ranked Houston Cougars on Nov. 26 at 2:30 p.m. The Flashes look to bounce back from their two-point loss at The College of Charleston earlier this week. The Flashes are prepared to disrupt the highly-ranked Houston Cougars for the first time in program history.
This will be the fourth time the Flashes and the Houston Cougars will meet. The last time the two teams played was on Dec. 7. 1991 when the Houston Cougars took an 80-56 win at the Disneyland Freedom Bowl Classic in Irvine, CA. This will be the first time Coach Rob Senderoff will face Houston as the Flashes' head coach.
The Flashes have won four of their six games by 20+ points, and are 1-1 on the road. The team has shown its dominance both offensively and defensively. Sincere Carry poured out a game-high 25 points on Nov. 23 against The College of Charleston. Currently, Carry averages 19.3 points per game and six assists. Carry has had double-digits in every contest this season. Malique Jacobs currently leads the NCAA with his 10 steals, a Kent State single-game record, that he recorded on Nov. 19 against Chicago State.
The Flashes as a whole have outshot their opponents 486-378 averaging 81 points per game. Along with the team's starters, the Flashes have a bench that is able to make a huge difference in games. Jalen Sullingers has posted double digits two different times this year. True freshman Delrecco Gillespie posted a career-high 11 points against Chicago State on Nov. 19.
Coach Senderoff looks to use games with opponents like Houston to prepare for the season and get ready for MAC play.
