Flashes Finish Regular Season with Convincing Win at SIU-E

EDWARDSVILLE, IL- Jake Ferri got the night started with a tech fall and Bobby Pryhocki added a pin as the Golden Flashes ended the regular season with a 29-12 win over SIU-Edwardsville.
Ferri wasted little time in his match with Austin Macias. Ferri racked up a series of takedowns in the first period and added a pair of four-point near falls in the second. When the dust settled, Ferri had amassed a 19-3 advantage, stopping the bout just before the second period ended.
The teams traded forfeits at 133 and 141, which set up an instant classic between Kody Komara and Caleb Tyus. It was a defensive bout with each side only managing an escape in regulation. That set the scene for Komara who secured a takedown in the first extra session to claim a 3-1 victory. After a scoreless first period in the 157-pound match. Bobby Pryhocki wasted little time in the second. Just 25 seconds into the second period, Pryhocki secured the fall on Max Kristoff and giving the Flashes a 20-6 lead.
Brady Chrisman kept his strong finish to the season going with a 4-2 victory over Cardeionte Wilson at 165 pounds. Chrisman used a takedown, escape and the riding time bonus to claim the win. A similar script was written for Colin McCracken in his win over Sergio Villalobos. McCracken got the early lead with an escape and a takedown and rode it out in the third period for a 4-1 win. Tyler Bates followed Komara's script in the 197 pound match. Both Bates and Andres only managed an escape in regulation, but like Komara, it was Bates that secured the takedown in extra time to claim the three points.
Kent State ends the regular season with the convincing victory and will look to take that momentum into the MAC Championships. The 2022 conference championships are being held at Ohio University on March 4th and 5th.
