Romel, Long Ball Not Enough Against West Virginia

CONWAY, SC- Mack Timbrook and Aidan Longwell each homered and Collin Romel threw five solid innings but West Virginia took home an 8-3 ballgame on Saturday.
The lefty pitched into the sixth allowing three runs on six hits while striking out seven. He responded to a lead-off home run to start the game with four shutout innings.
Mack Timbrook responded to the first inning blast with a no-doubter over the right field wall in the second. He added a second rbi on the day in the fourth with a sacrifice fly that brought home Justin Miknis and gave the Flashes a 2-1 lead.
It was a six-run sixth that vaulted the Mountaineers on Saturday. West Virginia struck for six runs on six hits to take a 7-2 lead. The Flashes would load the bases with two outs in the bottom of the inning but could not score.
Longwell provide a spark in the eighth with his first homer of the year. The lefty has gotten out to a sizzling start to the season with five hits in the first two games. Grant Vera made a strong debut out of the bullpen, working the final inning and a third with a pair of strikeouts.
Kent State wraps the weekend with a rematch with the host Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Sunday, first pitch is set for 3 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN +.
