Gymnastics Comes in Second at GW Quad

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Kent State gymnastics team traveled to Washington D.C. Sunday, and posted a season-best score of 195.600 to finish second in a quad meet with George Washington, Eastern Michigan, and LIU. Host George Washington won the meet with a score of 196.025, while Eastern Michigan and LIU earned scores of 195.200 and 193.575, respectively.
The Golden Flashes started off on beam, grabbing a score of 48.575. Senior Cami Klein led the way for the team with a score of 9.800. Next came floor, where Kent State scored a 49.075. Freshman Alyssa Guns, who had an amazing score of 9.975 on floor a week ago, led the team Sunday with a 9.875 on the event. This was also tied for the highest floor score of anyone in the meet.
Kent State also registered a 49.075 score on bars, their final event of the meet. This came after they posted a 48.875 score on vault. Guns had the highest team score on vault at 9.875, while junior Rachel DeCavitch led the team on bars at 9.875. DeCavitch also registered an all-around score of 39.125.
Next up for the Flashes is another road quad meet Friday, this time at Rutgers. Iowa and Ursinus will also compete in that one, which is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
