BOSTON, Mass. – Head Coach Rob Senderoff has been named a finalist for the Skip Prosser Man of the Year award, announced by collegeinsider.com on Tuesday.
The award honors those who not only achieve success on the basketball court but who display moral integrity off the floor as well. Prosser coached at Xavier, Loyola (Md.) and Wake Forest and posted a 291-146 record during his career.
Senderoff is a finalist for the award for the second consecutive year after leading the Golden Flashes to a 23-11 record which featured a 14-game winning streak and a Mid-American Conference Tournament game appearance. He was also named the MAC Coach of the Year and led the Flashes to the No. 2 seed in the MAC Tournament.
Off the court, Senderoff and his men's basketball program have been a part of several social initiatives. The program participated in its annual "This Game is No Secret" and Erascism game through the National Basketball Coaches of America on Feb. 5 against Eastern Michigan.
"It is an honor to be recognized with some great coaches," said Senderoff. "We have always prided our program on competing and doing things the right way, and that is what Coach [Skip] Prosser was all about."
Senderoff has also been an advocate for Team IMPACT, a national nonprofit headquartered in Boston that connects children facing serious or chronic illnesses with college athletic teams. His program signed Malyk Foster two years ago and has continued a relationship with Malyk over the last few seasons.
The winner of the award will be announced on April 1 in New Orleans, site of the Men's Division I Basketball Championship.
