Kent State Women’s Soccer Earns College Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kent State University women's soccer team earned recognition for its exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2021-22 academic year as a College Team Academic Award winner, the United Soccer Coaches (USC) announced on Thursday.
This honor is awarded to programs with a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the previous academic year. The Golden Flashes posted the third highest term GPA in program history (3.664) in the spring and a pair of student-athletes earned individual academic awards from the USC following the end of the 2021 season. Cameron Shedenhelm was named to the Scholar All-America Second Team and Scholar All-Region First Team, while Karly Hellstrom earned a spot on the Scholar All-Region Second Team.
Kent State reports for pre-season training on Monday, Aug. 1 and will compete in scrimmages against Duquesne and Missouri prior to opening the regular season Thursday, Aug. 18 against Cleveland State at Zoeller Field at Dix Stadium.
