Charlotte, NC... The 14th annual Presidents Cup, which pits some of the best American golfers against the best from the rest the world, will feature a pair of Kent State Alumni as Corey Connors and Taylor Pendrith take center stage on Tuesday.
Connors, currently ranked 25th in the world, will enter this year's event on a hot streak, having placed in the top ten of the last three Masters, and in the top-20 of the 2021 PGA Championship and Open Championship.
The 30-year-old Canadian was a two-time All-American Honorable Mention during his time with the blue and gold in 2012 and 2013.
Pendrith will come into this year's cup with much to prove, ranking 107th in the world after a rib fracture cooled his hot start to last year's PGA Tour. Despite being the only member of either team outside the top-100, Pendrith has been touted as one of the longest hitters on the Tour, a skill that should come in handy at this year's tournament in Quail Hollow.
The fellow Canadian picked up right where Connors left off at Kent State, collecting All-American Honorable Mention honors in 2014.
Both men have followed in the footsteps of fellow Golden Flashes Alumni and current head coach of the Kent State men's golf team Jon Mills, who will be watching this year's Presidents Cup intently.
"I am so proud of Corey and Taylor of what they have accomplished so far in their careers," Mills said. "I didn't get the opportunity to coach them at Kent State but being a fellow alum and Canadian, I have followed their careers closely. There will definitely be a sense of pride watching them compete this week at Quail Hollow."
This year's Presidents Cup is already underway and will conclude on Sunday, September 25th.
