Meiszner Goes 3-0 to Lead Flashes

KENT- Billy Meiszner and Blake Schaffer each went a perfect 3-0 as the Flashes blanked Lindenwood, highlighting a three-match, two-state frenzy on Sunday for the Flashes.
The Flashes blanked Lindenwood 42-0 on Sunday. Kent State won all nine of the completed matches with six wrestlers earning at least a bonus point and Josh Boggan won via forfeit. Ethan Barr earned a first period fall and Schaffer needed only eight seconds into the second period to register a tech fall in his 17-1 rout.
Kent State then headed east across the Mississippi River to Edwardsville to face SIU-E and Cal Baptist. The Flashes stormed back against the Cougars, but dropped a 23-20 decision. Meiszner again highlighted the dual, getting the Flashes on the board with a 17-1 technical fall, securing the five points with 48 seconds left in the match. Aaron Ferguson earned a 4-1 victory in the first overtime while one of the marquee matches of the night ended early after Ryan Yarnell had to exit against Blake Schaffer due to injury. Josh Boggan capped the dual with a pin just 50 seconds into his match, but it left the Flashes three points shy.
The nightcap saw the Lancers edge the Flashes 29-19. Meiszner capped his 3-0 day with a major decision win over Emilio Trujilio-Deen, 17-5. After Aaron Ferguson earned the Flashes' second victory via injury, the Flashes dropped matches at 174 and 184. Schaffer earned a 11-5 win over Eli Sheeren and Boggan earned a forfeit victory to round out the scoring.
The full results of the three matches are below. The Flashes head north to DeKalb to face Northern Illinois on Tuesday for a mid-week matinee starting at noon eastern.
