CLEVELAND — Nine Kent State cross country student-athletes have been named to the 2023 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Teams, the conference office announced Tuesday.
A total of 110 cross country student-athletes received Academic All-MAC honors for the 2023 season. Juniors Sydney Gallagher and Ariana Manos were among the 13 student-athletes with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Five members of the Golden Flashes' women's team earned Academic All-MAC honors and were joined by four members of the men's team.
This is the third consecutive season receiving the award for seniors Jacob Mirabell and Ethan Yost, while junior Michael Arner and Gallagher were recognized for the second year in a row.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
