Guns Named MAC Specialist of the Week

CLEVELAND – Kent State sophomore Alyssa Guns has been named the Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Week following her performance against Ball State, the league office announced Tuesday.
Guns won both of the events that she competed in at Kent State's annual Pink Meet on Sunday. She set a new career-high on beam with a 9.900, which was the first 9.90+ score the Golden Flashes have earned on the event this season. She also posted a season-high 9.925 on floor for her second title in the event this year. Guns currently ranks third in the MAC with an NQS of 9.875.
Guns was the only gymnast in Sunday's meet to record multiple 9.90+ scores.
This marks the first time in her career that the Michigan native has earned weekly honors from the Mid-American Conference. Last year, Guns earned Second Team All-MAC honors and competed on floor at the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Regional at Auburn.

The Flashes hit the road once again, traveling to Ypsilanti to compete against Eastern Michigan at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 26.

Fans can purchase single meet tickets here or by calling the Kent State Ticket Office at 330-672-4455. The Flashes return to the M.A.C. Center on Sunday, March 12 for Senior Day against Central Michigan before hosting the Mid-American Conference Championships on Saturday, March 18.
