
Ferri, Flashes Ready for NCAA Championships

TULSA- Jake Ferri has earned the 23rd seed in the 125-pound bracket for the 2023 NCAA Wrestling Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Ferri is joined by teammate Enrique Munguia who was selected as an alternate in the 165-pound bracket. Both are coming off second place finishes at the 2023 Mid-American Conference championships.
Ferri will be facing Brandon Courtney of Arizona State, who comes in as the 10-seed in the NCAA tournament and 10-4 overall on the season. Courtney finished second in the Pac-12 championships, losing in the title match in sudden victory. Ferri and Courtney have met once before, squaring off at the Cougar Clash in December 2018 with Courtney winning a 10-8 decision.
The Billerica, Massachusetts native is making his second appearance in the NCAA tournament. Ferri also qualified back in 2021, earning a major decision victory over Zurich Storm of Campbell. The 2023 NCAA Championships have the potential for Ferri to cross another milestone. The grad student currently sits at 106 career wins, tying him with Kent State head Coach Jim Andrassy for 16th on the all-time wins list at Kent State.
The NCAA Championships will be broadcasted and streamed across the ESPN family of networks. The wrestling starts on Thursday at noon ET/ 11 a.m. CT. There will be a main feed of the opening rounds on ESPN U with each mat getting its own designated camera that will be streamed through ESPN +.
