
Kent State Claims 11 Events at Northeast Ohio Open

AKRON, Ohio – The Kent State track and field team totaled 11 wins during competition at the Northeast Ohio Open on April 7-8.
The Golden Flashes captured five events in sprints and hurdles. Dejon Manning clocked a pair of personal-best times to win the men's 100-meter dash (10.64) and place second in the men's 200-meter dash (21.36). Asa Hodrick won the men's 200m in 21.13 seconds and finished the men's 100m in 10.65 seconds for second. Jonathan Solomon won the men's 400-meter dash in 47.59 seconds. Kent State swept the 400-meter hurdles with Korie Davis II winning the men's race in 54.08 seconds and Alexandria Verbancic winning the women's race in 1:01.40.
Dylan McBride ran a collegiate personal-best time of 1:52.08 to win the men's 800-meter run.
The Flashes posted four wins in jumping events. Lillie Franks matched her personal-best and cleared 5'-8" to win the women's high jump. Lanee Hall earned her first collegiate victory with a mark of 38'-0.75" in the women's triple jump. Keeli Dunaway won the women's long jump (17'-6.75") and was runner-up to Hall in the women's triple jump (37'-6.75"). Alexandre Malanda won the men's triple jump with a mark of 50'6.75".
Aliesha Shaw earned the final victory of the weekend for the Flashes with a throw of 48'-2.5" to win the women's shot put.
Kent State totaled seven additional second-place finishes. On the track, Anna Jones posted a personal-best time of 4:38.18 in the women's 1500-meter run and Karsyn Spears completed the women's 800-meter run in 2:13.82. In field events, Brian Phillips recorded an outdoor PR of 42'-11.75" in the men's triple jump. Kristian Kneffler matched his season-best height of 16'-4.75" in the men's pole vault. Amare Hall leaped 22'-11.75" in the men's long jump, Svenia De Coninck cleared 5'-7" in the women's high jump and Nolan Landis launched the discus 167'-7".
The Flashes will return to action next Saturday at the Cherry Blossom Invitational, which will be hosted by Ohio University.
