DEKALB, IL. - The Kent State Men's Basketball team (9-8) bounced back from a three-game loss against NIU 83-76. The Flashes are now 2-3 in the MAC. Kent State started the game gaining the lead quickly. The Flashes started with another new lineup that included Donovan Hunter who made his first collegiate start as a true freshman. The Flashes went on a 7-0 win early on to make the score 10-2. VonCameron Davis took advantage of the Huskies' fifth turnover helping the Flashes gain a double-digit lead. Reggie Bass was on fire helping the Flashes gain control in the first 20 minutes recording 17 points including five threes.
Tonight's scoring leader, VonCameron Davis, started the half with a layup. Neither team could get a grip on the lead with six lead changes and four ties. The Flashes were getting the buckets they needed but were struggling defensively in the first few minutes of the second half. Jalen Sullinger picked the momentum up hitting back-to-back threes to help the Flashes take another lead with 12:11 left. The team followed and Davis went off recording 16 points in the final 20 minutes and a new career-high of 23 points to finish. Davis shot nearly perfect going 10-of-12 from the field. Reggie Bass had himself a season-high matching Davis' 23 points hitting six threes. Jalen Sullinger finished the game with 17 points and Chris Payton Jr. followed with 13.
The Flashes outscored the Huskies in both halves and recorded 38 points in the paint. As a team the Flashes shot 60.4 percent from the field and 47.8 from the three and finished with seven steals and 30 rebounds.
