
Ferguson Leads Flashes at F and M Open

LANCASTER, PA- Aaron Ferguson wrestled his way to a team-best fifth-place finish on Friday, leading the Golden Flashes at the Franklin and Marshall Open.e
Ferguson went 5-1 on Friday and his fifth-place finish is the program's best result in the three appearances at the annual Open tournament. The 165-pounder won a pair of decisions to start the day, and after falling in the quarterfinals to the third-ranked wrestler, turned it up a notch in the wrestlebacks. Ferguson won by technical fall and major decision to earn his way into the fifth-place match which was won by no contest.
At 149 pounds, Matt Ryan went 4-2 on the day for the Flashes. Ryan lost his first match of the day, then stormed through the consolation bracket with four victories, one by major decision before falling narrowly in the consolation quarterfinals. Keegan Knapp had a similar day at 157 pounds. Knapp's two losses on the day came by a combined three points and he ripped off victories by technical fall, major decision and decision on his 4-2 day.
At 184 pounds, Kyle Snider went 3-2 on the day. He won a convincing major decision and a pair of decisions and dropping a pair of narrow decisions on Friday. In the heavyweight division, Brentan Simmerman won a pair of victories by fall on Friday. Simmerman wasted little time in his first victory by fall, getting the pin in the first period, his second fall came with only twenty seconds remaining in regulation.
