
Simmerman and Roth Lead Flashes at Cleveland State

Cleveland, OH.– Brentan Simmerman and Nathan Roth lead the Kent State wrestlers on Saturday with top 6 finishes at the Cleveland State Open.
Brentan Simmerman placed 3rd, improving his season record to 10-3. He began the tournament with a 7-5 victory over Kaiden Haines of Cleveland State, followed by an 11-6 win against Bryson Harrington of Pittsburgh. In the quarterfinals, Simmerman secured a 5-3 victory over Soren Herzog of Air Force. Simmerman was then defeated Michigan's Josh Heindselman in the semifinals by a 20-5 technical fall. Simmerman bounced back in the 3rd-place match, edging out John Meyers with a 6-5 victory.
Nathan Roth placed 6th and increased his win total to 13 for the season. He started the tournament with a win by pin over Andrew Parish of Cleveland State in 2:15. Roth followed up with a 16-0 technical fall over Eran Marx of Grand Valley State to advance to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Roth was defeated by Jimmy Nugent of Central Michigan by a 21-6 technical fall. He rebounded by pinning Alec Viduya of Air Force in 3:29. Roth then secured a 7-3 victory over Klay Reeves of Ohio State, guaranteeing a top-six finish. In the 5th-place match, Roth was defeated by Logan Cravatas of Ohio by an 11-2 major decision.
The Flashes will be back in action on December 14th against Buffalo, Gardner-Webb, and Rutgers. The quad will start at 12:00 PM in the Kent State Field House.
