
Richmond Named to NCAA Baseball Committee

KENT- Kent State Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Randale L. Richmond has been appointed to the NCAA Division-I Baseball Committee.
The appointment begins in September and runs through the 2027-28 season. Richmond will be one of 10 members of the committee. The committee's main job is to oversee and provide recommendations for the NCAA Baseball Championship.
Richmond will have direct input on the on the at-large selections into the championship as well as the top-16 seeds, who will serve as host sites for the regionals and super regionals. The committee also discusses and reviews the previous year's championship tournament. Working with umpires, coaches and administrators, the committee gathers feedback to implement changes for future championship tournaments.
This past year, the committee instituted the use of replay across all host sites, walk-up songs for all student-athletes and the implementation of Trackman for analytics.
The 2024-25 college baseball season will get started with its unofficial season this fall, the regular season will start in mid-February.
