KENT – The Kent State Men's Basketball team fell at home to the Broncos of Western Michigan University on Tuesday night by a final score of 94-83. Jalen Sullinger scored a KSU career high 32 points despite the loss.
The Flashes and Broncos played even through the majority of the first half trading the lead seven times. This was before the Broncos pushed a lead to 11 points with 4:35 left to play in the first. Kent State responded with a run their own to make it just a six-point difference at the break. Cli'Ron Hornbeak and Sullinger continued to lead the charge in the second half. Sullinger's sixth three-pointer of the night tied the game at 60 with 12:08 left. WMU took advantage of great shooting down the stretch to build a lead back to 11 points by the final horn.
Sullinger tallied 32 points on eight three-pointers, 10 field goals, and four free throws marking his highest Kent State single game point total. It was his highest scoring game since he dropped 30 against James Madison University on Nov. 9, 2023. Hornbeak dropped 17 for his second highest scoring performance of the season only behind Nov. 8, 2024 against Miami-Hamilton (18). Delrecco Gillespie posted his second double-digit performance of the season so far matching his season high with 10 points.
Kent State will be back in action inside the M.A.C. Center on Saturday, Jan. 18 against the Miami University RedHawks at 3:00 p.m. It is the second of a KSU hoops doubleheader as the Flashes Women's Basketball team tips off against Western Michigan at 1:00 p.m. For more information on Kent State men's basketball, fans can follow the team on X, Instagram and Facebook.
