
Freshmen Lead Kent State at MAC Cross Country Championships

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Freshmen Michael Hanselman and Camille Dunifer led Kent State in the men's 8K and women's 6K, respectively, during competition at the 2025 Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday.
Hanselman was the first member of the men's team across the finish line for the fifth time this season with a time of 25:06.0, which put him 25th overall and fourth among first-year runners. Freshman Owen Kelly (26:18.5; 56th), graduate student Carter Almady (26:20.6; 57th), redshirt freshman Caleb Wilcox (26:24.4; 59th) and junior Jack Curtis (26:31.3; 64th) also scored for the team.
In the women's race, Dunifer ran a personal-best time of 22:15.5 for 50th place. Graduate student Grace Smith (22:36.8; 65th), sophomore Nora Salem (23:07.9, 85th), junior Ella McCollom (23:15.7, 89th) and sophomore Emerson Greene (23:32.2; 92nd) were the Golden Flashes other scorers.
Kent State will have a week off to get ready for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships in Evansville, Indiana on Nov. 14.
