
Blake Schaffer Named MAC West Division Wrestler Of The Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio- Kent State senior Wrestler Blake Schaffer has earned Mid-American Conference West Division Wrestler of the Week honors, the league office announced Tuesday.
Schaffer(197) went a perfect 4-0 in three days, helping Kent State to three dual meet wins in that stretch, including the first conference dual win for the Golden Flashes under first-year Head Coach Josh Moore. Schaffer won a 3-0 decision in the Tri-State Santa Slam against Andrew Liber(Bellarmine) and also beat Brody Evans(Edinboro) by a score of 10-4 later that night.
On Saturday, Schaffer and the Flashes went to Buffalo for another Tri-Meet and first beat Josh McCutchen(Gardner-Webb) in a 7-2 decision. He followed that up with another big win to seal the dual by beating Connor Jacobs(Buffalo) in a close 2-1 match.
The 197-pound senior has compiled a record of 12-3 so far this season and will be back in action at home on Friday along with the rest of the Flashes as they host UT Chattanooga for a dual meet inside the MAC Center starting at 7 P.M.
