
Behner Wins on Bars as Flashes Close Regular Season at Ohio State Quad Meet

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics team concluded the 2025 regular season on Sunday afternoon as they faced Ohio State, Pitt, and West Virginia in a quad meet hosted by the Buckeyes. The Flashes finished fourth among the four teams competing, narrowly placing behind the Panthers and the Mountaineers.
Despite their finish among the four squads competing, Kent State's 195.650 was the team's best score on the road and third best score overall of the season in Sunday's meet. Ohio State claimed first in the meet with a 196.875, while Pitt and West Virginia followed with a 195.925 and 195.850 respectively.
ROTATION 1 – FLOOR
The Flashes opened the meet on the floor, where Charlie Behner began an impressive individual day by matching her career high with a 9.875 to lead Kent State and finish tied for third in the event. Alyssa Guns followed closely with a 9.850 to anchor the Flashes' lineup, while Ashley Morgan earned a 9.800 in just her second appearance on the floor this season.
ROTATION 2 – VAULT
Behner and Mya Migliore posted Kent State's highest scores in the second rotation on vault with a pair of 9.825s. Gabby Riley and Avery Compson each earned a 9.750 as the Flashes posted a 48.850 for the second rotation in a row to open the meet.
ROTATION 3 – BARS
Kent State's best rotation of the day came on bars, due in large part to the performance of Behner. The junior won the event after posting a phenomenal 9.900, matching her career high and setting a new season high. It is the highest individual score on bars by a Kent State gymnast this season. Heidi Schultz posted a solid 9.850 for the Flashes while Nastia Rudnitskaya earned a 9.800 to help the Flashes earn a 49.100. It marks the fourth consecutive meet that Kent State has surpassed the 49.000 mark on bars.
ROTATION 4 – BEAM
Morgan claimed Kent State's final podium finish of the day on beam, where she finished tied for third with a 9.850 to lead the Flashes. After earning a 9.925 last weekend against Ball State on beam, Schultz posted a 9.825 at Sunday's meet in the Flashes' final rotation of the day.
