Nagy Tosses Complete Game During Doubleheader at Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio – Senior Delaney Nagy recorded her second complete game in a Kent State uniform as the Golden Flashes dropped a pair of games to host Ohio by scores of 2-1 and 8-2.

Sophomore Aaralyn Nogay led the offense with three hits and one RBI. Nogay also had a stolen base.

Game 1: Ohio 2, Kent State 1
Delaney Nagy retired the first six Bobcat batters she faced and allowed just one hit to keep the game scoreless through innings.

Kent State took advantage of a few pitching mistakes in the top of the fourth to lead 1-0. Savannah Wing was hit by a pitch to start the frame and moved to second on a sac bunt. Delaney Robeson then drew a walk, and a passed ball on the final pitch of the plate appearance allowed Wing to go to third. A sac fly by Katie Jo Moery followed to score Wing.

Ohio went ahead 2-1 on a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth. Nagy retired the next six and the Golden Flashes trailed by one after five.

Kent State threatened to tie it in the top of the sixth when Leitner hit a double and advanced to third on a passed ball but was unable to be brought home. The Flashes then went down in order in the seventh.

Nagy threw all six innings with one strikeout and held the Bobcats to four hits, their third lowest total of the season.

Game 2: Ohio 8, Kent State 2
Down 2-0, Megan Claerhout put the Golden Flashes on the board with a solo homer in the top of the second.

Ohio plated single runs in the second and third to extend its lead to 4-1.

After singles by Delaney Robeson and Claerhout placed runners on the corners in the top of the fourth, Aaralyn Nogay brought Robeson home with a single up the middle to make it 4-2.

A pair of errors allowed the Bobcats to score four unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth.

On Deck for the Flashes
Kent State will celebrate 50 years as a varsity sport this weekend and host Ball State at Devine Diamond for a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday.
