
Kent State’s Jake Casey Makes Program History with MLB Draft Combine Invitation

First Golden Flashes Player Ever Selected for Premier Pre-Draft Showcase
KENT, Ohio –– Kent State baseball's Jake Casey has been invited to participate in the 2025 MLB Draft Combine, becoming the first player in program history to receive this prestigious honor. The combine will occur June 17-21 at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.
The MLB Draft Combine brings together the top collegiate and high school prospects nationwide for five days of intensive workouts, interviews, and evaluations by all 30 Major League Baseball teams.
"This is an incredible honor for Jake and a testament to his hard work and dedication," said Head Baseball Coach Jeff Duncan. "To be the first player in our program's history to receive this invitation is truly special. Jake has represented Kent State with class and excellence throughout his career."
Casey earned All-MAC First Team honors after a fantastic season. In 2025, he posted a .356 batting average with 74 hits, 74 runs, 17 home runs, and 55 RBIs while appearing in all 56 games. Casey also added 20 doubles and 20 stolen bases.
Over his four-year career at Kent State, Casey compiled a .277 batting average with 149 hits, 155 runs, 41 home runs, 34 doubles, and 127 RBIs across 161 games.
The MLB Draft Combine invitation caps off a stellar senior season for Casey, who helped lead Kent State to a Regular Season MAC Championship.
