
Gymnastics Opens Season Victorious over Northern Illinois in M.A.C. Center

KENT, Ohio – The Kent State gymnastics team opened the 2026 season with a statement victory in the M.A.C. Center on Sunday afternoon, outscoring the Northern Illinois Huskies 195.350 to 191.675.
The Golden Flashes (1-0, 1-0) continue a hot streak in conference meets and home meets after going 6-0 in each category last season.
ROTATION 1 – VAULT
The Flashes posted a 49.875 on vault, led by a 9.875 by Jersey Bingman and a 9.850 from Charlie Behner. Ashley Morgan ensured Kent State had the top three meet finishers in the meet with a 9.800.
ROTATION 2 – BARS
Similar to vault, Kent State posted the four highest scores of the day on the uneven bars. Mya Migliore and Isabella Marques split first-place honors at 9.800, while Nastia Rudnitskaya and Behner tied for third with a pair of 9.775's, as the Flashes posted a 48.875 team score in the event.
ROTATION 3 – BEAM
The team's lowest score of the day came on beam, where the Flashes carded a 48.550. Heidi Schultz was able to help the Flashes overcome early adversity in the rotation by earning a 9.800 in the anchor position to tie for first place in the event. Migliore came in third place on beam with a 9.775.
ROTATION 4 – FLOOR
Kent State closed out a complete team performance with a 48.975 on the floor exercise. Zoe Rankin opened the final rotation in style with a 9.875, which was good enough to win the event. Behner followed closely at 9.850 to claim second on the floor.
