
Blake Schaffer Wins MAC Wrestler Of The Week Honors For Second Time This Season

CLEVELAND, Ohio- Kent State senior Wrestler Blake Schaffer has earned Mid-American Conference West Division Co-Wrestler of the Week honors, the league office announced Tuesday. Schaffer shares the title this week with Tommy Bennett(174; NIU), and has now won for a second time this season.
Schaffer(197) went 2-0 in two days in a pair of MAC dual meets against Northern Illinois and SIUE on the road over the weekend. He dominated his first match on Friday against Dominic Heim(NIU) in an 18-2 Technical Fall.Â
The next day, he also defeated Nick Nosler(SIUE) in a 4-2 decision to earn his 20th victory of the year and improve his season dual record to 9-2.
The 197-pound Canton native has compiled a record of 20-6 so far this season and will be back in action at home on Saturday along with the rest of the Flashes as they host LIU and Clarion for a tri-meet meet inside the MAC Center starting at 6 P.M. Saturday's action will begin a four-week home stand for the Blue and Gold.
