
Hogg Leads Golden Flashes At Marino Classic

Darcy Hogg leads the Kent State Herb Page men's golf team with a top-20 placement at the Michael A. Marino Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Sunday.
Hogg completed Round 1 at even par, going 1 over on the front nine and 1 under on the back. He opened the back nine with a birdie on the par-4 10th before consecutive bogeys on the par-4 11th and the par-3 12th. Three birdies over the final 15 holes brought him back to even.
Hogg continued into the first nine of Round 2, picking up birdies on Nos. 13 and 16 before a bogey on 18 to sit at 1 under through 27 holes.
Isaiah Ibit is in 51st at 3 over. He finished Round 1 at 1 over, playing even on the back nine with a birdie on No. 13 and a bogey on 17, then going 1 over on the front with a birdie on No. 2 and bogeys on Nos. 1 and 6. He added 2 over through nine holes of Round 2.
Nolan Haynes sits in 59th at 4 over, one shot behind Ibit. Ramiro Acevedo is in 74th at 7 over, and Liam Curtis is in 79th at 8 over.
Kent State is tied for 13th at 13 over. The Flashes finished Round 1 in 10th at 7 over. Louisville led after Round 1 at 6 under. Through nine holes of Round 2, Liberty leads at 12 under with Louisville one shot back.
Individually, Nolan Harper of Florida Gulf Coast and Cooper Claycomb of Louisville are tied at 7 under.
Play was suspended after 27 holes due to the weather. The tournament, originally scheduled for 18 holes per day, adjusted its format to address anticipated conditions. The remaining nine holes of Round 2 are expected to be completed on Monday, with 18 holes scheduled for Tuesday, depending on the weather.
