KENT, Ohio – Ben Rabatin delivered the finest start of his career and Sawyer Solitaria homered for the third consecutive game as Kent State closed out its final home series with a 6-0 shutout victory over Eastern Michigan on Sunday afternoon at Schoonover Stadium. The Golden Flashes won the series two games to one and improved to 37-12 overall and 22-8 in MAC play.

Rabatin was masterful in his Senior Day outing, spinning seven innings of three-hit shutout baseball while striking out three and walking two to improve to 7-2. Nick Guidas completed the shutout with two scoreless innings of relief.

Solitaria got the Flashes on the board in the first with a solo home run, his third in as many games this weekend, before Kent State broke it open with three runs in the third and two more in the fourth to put the game away early. The third-inning rally was fueled by five consecutive singles from Luke Matthews, Solitaria, Brody Williams, Alejandro Covas, and Brady Marshall, with Covas and Marshall each driving in a run and Ripken Reese adding a sacrifice fly RBI. Matthews then sparked a two-run fourth with an RBI double before Williams doubled home an insurance run.

Matthews finished 2-for-5 with two RBI, while Covas went 3-for-5 with an RBI, Williams added two hits and an RBI, and Marshall contributed two hits and an RBI. The Golden Flashes scattered 13 hits across all nine innings.
