Â
Kent State and the University of Akron softball team have joined forces for an alumni challenge to see which program can get the most number of donors to their respective programs over the next year. The campaign to win the Flashes/Zip challenge starts on
OCTOBER 12, 2013 when Kent State and Akron will play a fall game at noon on Akron’s field. Every donation received from an eligible donor over the next year counts as an RBI for their team. The challenge will end next fall with a KSU/Akron alumni game at Firestone Stadium (date TBD) followed by a picnic and our annual fall game with the Varsity teams.Â
Â
Kent State and Akron have shared a long and successful rivalry in softball. Our goal is to get alumni connected to our programs as well as raise money for scholarships for our players to be able to attend summer school. Academic success is a top priority for both programs and money donated for summer school helps our athletes maintain their high academic standing.Â
Â
In order for a donation to count as an RBI it must be made by:
- A softball alumni or a family member of a softball alumni
- A family member from a current student athlete
- A current or former KSU athletic staff member
