Kathleen Collett Davis, 1998
HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: A 1982 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School…KSU CAREER: Earned four Varsity “K’s” as a member of Kent’s Women’s Gymnastics Team (1983-86)…Won the Mid-American Conference floor exercise championship in 1983 and 1984 …First team All-Mid-American Conference in 1983 and 1984…Helped Kent to the 1984 MAC team title…Team co-captain as a senior…Established Kent record in the all-around, 35.90…Earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications in 1987…PERSONAL: Married to Michael Davis, they have two children; Kaitlin and Allison.
Joe Dubina, 1998
HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: Graduated from Canton Lincoln High School in 1973…Earned three letters in track and football…Named to the all-city and all-county track teams in his junior and senior seasons…Placed fifth in the mile at the 1973 Ohio State Championships…KSU CAREER: Lettered seven times for the Golden Flashes under Doug Raymond; three times in track (1975-77) and four times in cross country (1973-76)…Earned All-America status by placing fourth in the 1976 indoor mile…Qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 1,500 – meters in 1977…Mid-American Conference mile champion in 1975…Team captain in 1977…Holds Kent records in the 1,500 – meters both indoor (3:44.7) and outdoor (3:44.9)…Also set school marks in the 800 – meters (indoor) and the distance medley (outdoor)…AAU All-American in 1977…Member of the U.S.A. vs. Canada and USSR track team in 1977…Earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Kent in 1980…POST KSU CAREER: Was the 1997 Law Enforcement Olympics champion in the 200, 800, and 1,500 – meter events…PERSONAL: He and his wife, Johanna have two children, Joey and Jacob…Currently serving as a Parole Services Supervisor for the adult Parole Authority in New Philadelphia, Ohio.
Pauline Maurice, 1998
HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: Graduated in 1986 from Welland High and Vocational School in Welland, Ontario, Canada where she excelled in volleyball, track, and badminton…KSU CAREER: Quickly established herself as one of the best players in Kent history by earning Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year honors in 1988…The fleet-footed outfielder lettered four times for the Flashes (1988-91)…Nicknamed “Turbo”…First team All-MAC and All-Mid-East Region in 1990 and 1991…All-America second team in 1990…Led Kent to its one MAC softball championship and NCAA World Series berth in 1990-91…Second team All-MAC in 1989…Chosen MAC Female Athlete of the Decade in 1992…Only player in Kent history to surpass 200-hit plateau with 219 in her career…Set 13 Kent records including season (.429) and career batting average (.396), season (25) and career (64) stolen bases and season (38) and career (107) runs scored…All-MAC Academic first team in 1990-91…One of Kent’s honorees at the MAC’s 50th Anniversary Celebration in 1996…POST KSU CAREER: Member of Canada’s 1996 Olympic Softball Team…Helped the team to a fifth place finish by posting the fourth highest batting average of the tournament…Won silver medal in 1991 Pan-American Games in Havanna, Cuba after leading the games with six stolen bases…Member of Canada Cup Team 1993-96…Named Welland’s Female Athlete of the Year in 1989, 1991, and 1996…Also chosen Welland Sportsman of the Year in 1995…Named to the Canada Senior National All-Star Team as an outfielder in 1993 and 1995…Played for the Saronno Softball Club (semi-pro) in Italy in 1992…PERSONAL: Retired from Team Canada after a nine-year career…Currently working as a Quality Assurance Analyst in Management Information Systems at Casino Niagra in Niagra Falls, Canada…Continues to work with the Canadian Olympic Team speaking at camps and clinics…Active in Employability Initiative Program and Business Education Council where she serves as a community speaker to teacher and students.

HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: Attended high school in Cleveland and graduate in 1937…KSU CAREER: Captured three consecutive 4-I championships in 1939-41 and 165 – pounds…Won a pair of Lake Erie A.A.U. titles at 167 – pounds…Earned three Varsity “K’s” from 1939-41…Won 37 consecutive matches for the Flashes…Qualified fro the NCAA wrestling tournament three consecutive years, 1939-41…Received his bachelor of science degree in education in 1941.
Steve Reedy, 1998
HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: Graduated from Ravenna High School in 1977…Won six letters as a prep, three each in football and wrestling…Two-time all-Metro League selection in football…Three-time Metro League, sectional and district champion…Placed in the top three in the state wrestling tournament three times, including a state championship as a senior…KSU CAREER: Earned four Varsity “K’s” under coach Ron Gray from 1978-81…Led the Flashes to a 44-12-1 dual-meet record, four Mid-American Conference team titles and two top-20 NCAA rankings…Set and still holds the Kent record for most victories in a career with 110…Set Kent season win record with 38 dual match victories in 1980-81…Team captain in both his junior and senior seasons…Won the 167-pound Mid-American Conference title in 1981…Placed sixth at the NCAA Championships to earn All-America honors in 1981…Led the Golden Flashes to a school-record 16 dual-meet victories as a senior (a mark that was equaled by the 1985-86 team)…Shared the prestigious Joe Begala award with teammate Ray Wagner as a senior…Selected team MVP in both his junior and senior seasons…Received his bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees in industrial arts in 1982 and 1984, respectively…POST KSU CAREER: Currently in his thirteenth season as the head wrestling coach at Ravenna High School…He has guided the Ravens to a 159024-3 record (.855 winning percentage) and eight consecutive league titles (seven Metro League championships and one Western Reserve Conference (WRC) title)…Voted Ohio High School Athletic Association Coach of the Year 1990-96 and WRC Coach of the Year in 1997…PERSONAL: Also serves as Ravenna’s Athletic Coordinator…He and his wife Nancy currently reside with their two children, Monica and Matthew.
Matt Resick, 1998
KSU CAREER: Coached the Kent baseball team from 1949-61…The Golden Flashes posted a 132-100-1 record (.569 winning percentage) during his tenure and had winning season in 10 of his 13 at the helm…Ten of his Kent players went on to play professionally, including Varsity “K” Hall of Famers Lou Bocci, Mike Feduniak, Nobby Lewandowski, Gene Michael, and Rich Rollins…In addition to his coaching duties he served as a professor a and associate dean in Kent’s School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation from 1948-75…PERSONAL: Received his bachelor’s degree from Ashland College in 1941…Earned his master’s degree in physical education and social administration in 1952, both from the Ohio State University…Was honored with a distinguished alumni achievement award from Ashland College in 1971 and the outstanding health and physical education alumni award from Ashland in 1978…Born on February 16, 1910…He and his wife have three children.
Jeff Tabaka, 1998
HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: A 1982 graduate of Copley High School…Lettered three times in baseball and football and twice in basketball as a prep…KSU CAREER: Earned four Varsity “K’s” in baseball for the Flashes from 1983-86…All-Mid-American Conference First Team selection in 1986…Was named to the All-District IV First Team and the All-America Third Team in 1986 as well…Established Kent pitching records for saves in a season and a career, with eight, and appearances with 19…Posted 10-6 career record with 79 strikeouts in 74.1 innings pitched…At the plate he rapped out 100 career hits, including 20 doubles and 14 homeruns…Hit for a .350 career average with 84 runs batted in…Majored in graphic design…Was drafted in the second round of the 1986 amateur draft by the Montreal Expos…POST KSU CAREER: Has also played in the Pittsburgh Pirates’, San Diego Padres’ and Houston Astros’ organizations…Saw his first major league action with the Pirates in 1994 before being picked up on waivers by the Padres…At San Diego he posted a 3-1 record with one save and 3.89 ERA…Recently signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates and will be one their 40-man spring training roster…PERSONAL: He and his wife Gretchen live in Canal Fulton and have a daughter, Brooke.
