Athletic Training and Education Center
|
Kent State University Athletics boasts a state of the art Sports Medicine Center that serves all of our student-athletes. The center is located within the MACC Annex and spans over 10,000 square feet and two floors. The sports medicine facility has three therapy pools, including an underwater treadmill and features an anti-gravity treadmill which enables student-athletes to rehabilitate lower extremity injuries with less pain and accommodate post surgical cases being weight bearing more quickly. We also have two physician exam offices and an X-ray suite. Another highlight will be a cryotherapy unit, a cutting edge technology use of cold therapy where the body is immersed in sub-zero temperatures to turbo-charge its ability to recover. Many professional athletes are utilizing cryotherapy treatments on a regular basis. The NBA, NFL and US Olympic teams use cryotherapy in their training facilities to decrease recovery time for athletes while increasing both athletic performance and metabolic rate. Cleveland Clinic Sports Health has become a key partner with KSU Athletics and has been instrumental with providing world class care to our student-athletes. We boast an entire team of physicians, including orthopaedic surgeons, exercise medicine specialists and include both attending and fellowship physicians. Dr. Lutul Farrow and Dr. Caitlin Lewis lead the team of physicians and sports medicine staff. |
