Kent State head gymnastics coach Austyn Fobes has announced the addition of Emma Masse to the Golden Flashes coaching staff as an assistant coach, she announced Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
A familiar face in the Flash Family, Masse spent four seasons as a student-athlete for Kent State from 2023 to 2026. The Rhode Island native was a specialist on the floor exercise, earning Academic All-MAC honors in 2025 and closing out her career with a personal-best 9.850 at the MAC Championships in her final season as a Golden Flash.
Masse appeared in 10 floor exercise bouts across her career, including eight in the 2025 season alone. She made her Kent State debut at West Virginia in 2025 and went on to post a then-career-best 9.775 on floor against Central Michigan that year. In her final collegiate season in 2026, she raised the ceiling of her career with a 9.850 at the MAC Championships while averaging 9.800 on the event.
Masse joins a Kent State program under new direction, with Austyn Fobes taking over as head coach following the retirement of Brice Biggin, who built the program over 35 seasons.
