Arnette Jordan is entering his fourth season on the Kent State men’s basketball coaching staff. A former assistant coach at Oakland University and a high school coach in Detroit, Jordan was added to the staff in the summer of 2004.
Since his arrival in Kent, the Golden Flashes have posted a 66-33 overall record and claimed the 2005-06 Mid-American Conference East Division and Tournament Titles. In the process the program has extended its own MAC record to nine consecutive 20-win seasons.
“Arnette is a gifted, young basketball coach and had done at great job at Oakland University,” head coach Jim Christian said. “He brings energy and excitement as part of the Kent State men’s basketball program. As a former high school coach in Detroit, I am hopeful we will continue our strong recruiting ties to the Detroit area.”
Jordan joined the coaching staff under Greg Kampe at Oakland in August of 2003.
A graduate of Cass Tech High School in Detroit, Jordan has extensive basketball knowledge of the Detroit area, having coached at the AAU and high school levels there for four years. He served as an assistant for two seasons at Martin Luther King High School in the two years prior to coming to Oakland and also worked with The Family team as an AAU coach.
Jordan played for one season at Georgetown University under Hall of Fame coach John Thompson, before eventually earning his bachelor’s degree from Jackson State University in 2000.
