Jon Fleming was named Assistant Coach of Kent State men's basketball prior to the 2022-23 season. He initially joined the program as Director of Operations in May of 2021.
The 2021-22 season was great for Fleming and the rest of the Golden Flashes. A 23-11 record (16-4 MAC) saw the Flashes make it to the MAC Championship game and play in The Basketball Classic in the postseason. The Flashes' defense was particularly excellent, ranking second in the MAC for opposing field goal percentage and opposing three-point field goal percentage. The offense was dynamic, led by guard Sincere Carry with his 17.9 points per game.
For the 2022-23 season, the Kent State Golden Flashes had a phenomenal season with a memorable NCAA tournament appearance. The Golden Flashes dominated the Mid-American Conference by earning an impressive 28-7 overall record, ending out the regular season as MAC Champions. Kent State earned an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, a testament to the hard work and consistent excellence throughout the year.
Fleming previously served as a graduate assistant and the Director of Player Development for the Golden Flashes for the past three seasons. The Fishers, Indiana native is a 2017 graduate of Kent State and was a four-year member of the men's basketball team. Fleming's dedication and hard work over his four seasons made him one of the leaders of the 2017 team that won the Mid-American Conference tournament.
