Josie Angeny was hired as an assistant coach in September 2023 and brings championship experience and a gymnastics pedigree with her to the Golden Flashes' program.
Angeny has spent the last five years competing as a gymnast in the SEC. A four-year team member at Kentucky, Angeny competed in 45 meets for the Wildcats. As a freshman in 2019, she earned SEC All-Freshman Team honors after scoring 9.800 on beam seven times. Angeny earned All-SEC honors after winning on beam three times in her sophomore campaign in Lexington.
Angeny earned All-SEC honors again as a junior after a breakout season where she set career-highs in all five events. She won three times on beam and bars and had two first-place finishes in the all-around. At the 2021 NCAA Salt Lake City Regional, Angeny won on beam with a 9.950, which tied her career-high, and set new personal bests on floor (9.900) and all-around (39.550). As a senior in 2022, she helped lead Kentucky to an NCAA Regional berth.
Following the 2022 season, Angeny transferred to Georgia for her final year of eligibility, helping guide the GymDogs during a rebuilding year to a NCAA Regional berth.
Angeny also excelled in the classroom at both Kentucky and Georgia, earning WCGA Scholastic All-American honors four times, SEC Winter Sports Academic Honor Roll three times, and was selected to the SEC First Year Academic Honor Roll.
Outside of competition, Angeny has worked as a coach in several different roles. Since 2017, she has served as a Floor Routine Coordinator at Prestige Gymnastics, helping choreograph routines for younger gymnasts as well as her teammates. While at Kentucky, Angeny worked as an Acrobatics Instructor at the Lexington Dance Factory. She has also worked as a coach at Flipfest the past four summers, helping train groups of athletes.
A native of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, Angeny earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Kentucky in December 2021 and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Sport Administration.
