Kent State’s all-time points leader at 1,808.125, Marie Case, joins the coaching staff in the 2014-15 season as a student coach after a stellar career as a Golden Flash.
In the 2013-14 season, Case advanced to the NCAA National Championships as an individual competing in the All-Around. Case took 13th at Nationals with a total of 39.200 points. Case was named the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) Central Region Co-Gymnast of the Year and was selected as an All-Around Second Team All-American.
The Erie, Pa. native set four career-highs in 2014, on the vault (9.950), bars (9.925), floor (9.975) and the all-around (39.600). Her top individual event scores rank in the top-10 in Kent State History on every event and in the all-around.
Case has been named the Mid-American Gymnast of the Year three straight years (2012, 2013 co, 2014), Senior of the Year (2014) and Freshman of the Year (2011). In her four-year career at Kent State, she has led the Golden Flashes to a record of 70-41-1 overall, 24-5 in dual meet action and a 21-3 MAC record where she led the team to two straight Regular Season Championships (2013 and 2014). As a freshman, Case was a member of the Kent State team that advanced to the 2011 NCAA National Championships after placing second at the NCAA Regional in Ann Arbor, Mich. (195.050). At the Championships in Cleveland, Ohio, the Golden Flashes took 12th place (195.000).
Case was a four-time MAC Champion (All-Around ‘13/’14, Balance Beam ’14, co-Vault ’14), four-time All-MAC selection (2 first team, 2 second team), a three-time Academic All-MAC selection, and was a NACGC/W Scholar All-America selection in 2012.
Marie Case will receive her Bachelor's degree in December 2014 in Exercise Science.
