Austyn Fobes joined Kent State Gymnastics as an assistant coach in August 2024.
In her first season with the Golden Flashes, Fobes helped the team win the 2025 MAC Regular Season Championship, finishing 6-0 in conference regular season meets. Kent State finished with an 11-5 overall record, flying the flag with signature victories over West Virginia and Pitt, also recording a season-high 196.400 against Ball State in the M.A.C. Center. Under Fobes' leadership on beam, Heidi Schultz claimed the event MAC title with a 9.875. The Flashes had three individuals qualify for the State College NCAA Regional and earned five All-MAC selections to conclude 2025.
Fobes came to Kent State after spending one year as an assistant coach at Bowling Green. In her lone season with the Falcons, Fobes helped Kathryn Weilbacher win the program's first Mid-American Conference floor exercise title since 2017. Bowling Green earned the ninth highest team score (195.925) in school history during a competition at LIU on Feb. 25, with Weilbacher's personal-best 9.925 score also tying for ninth in the BG record book. On balance beam, Megan Bingham tied for the fifth-best score all-time with a 9.925 a month earlier, which gave her a share for the top score by a MAC competitor all season.
Fobes trained multiple Division I student-athletes during her time as a Level 6-10 team coach at Premier Gymnastics in Morganville, New Jersey from 2015-23. She focused on beam and floor routine choreography while serving as the office administrator for USAG.
A four-year standout at New Hampshire from 2010-13, Fobes was a NCAA Regional participant in all four seasons as a competitor for the Wildcats and was named Team MVP in 2013.
Fobes earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from New Hampshire in 2014.
