Chip Whipple is in his fourth year at Kent State University, currently serving as Senior Associate Director, Communications and Annual Giving. In this role, he facilitates the alumni and donor outreach for the Kent State athletics and helps securing funds for the athletic department’s most immediate needs.
Whipple previously worked at Washington and Lee University from 2012-22. He started as the assistant sports information director and was promoted twice in his nearly 10 years of service. He was elevated to associate sports information director in 2016 and later to senior associate director of athletic communications in 2019.
Prior to W&L, Whipple worked at Dartmouth College, where he served as the athletics communications intern from 2010-12. In this role, he was responsible for working with a variety of the school's 34 varsity athletic teams, including serving as the primary contact for 18 sports.
He also served as a graduate assistant sports information director at Ashland University from 2008-10, working with the school's 20 varsity athletic teams.
A 2008 graduate of Ashland with a bachelor of arts in sport communication and journalism, Whipple spent four years as a student assistant with the sports information department. He earned a master of education in sport education at Ashland in 2010.
