Kyle Conel joined the Kent State Wrestling Coaching Staff as a Volunteer Assistant Coach under Josh Moore in 2025.
Conel rejoins the Flashes as he was one of the most successful wrestlers in program history when he was with Kent State from 2014-2019. Conel was a Two-Time NCAA Qualifier for the Flashes including finishing as an All-American and Third-Place Finisher(197) at the NCAA Championships in 2018, going 6-1 as an unseeded wrestler.
Conel also earned a 2nd-Place Finish at the USA Wrestling U23 Nationals in 2019. He also placed fifth in the 2016 Mid-American Conference Wrestling Championships and Second before his run at Nationals in 2018.
He also excelled in the classroom at Kent State as a Two-Time MAC Distinguished Scholar Award Recipient(2016, 2018). He also earned MAC All-Academic Team in those two seasons. In 2018, he was a First-Team NWCA National All-Academic honoree.
