Nick Bennett joined the Kent State University baseball program as pitching coach in January 2026, bringing nearly a decade of professional playing experience and a proven track record in player development.
A 6th-round selection (Pick 193) by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2019 MLB Draft, Bennett spent six seasons in the Brewers organization, advancing to Triple-A. Over five minor league seasons, he struck out 371 batters with a 4.54 ERA across 360.2 innings pitched. In 2025, Bennett continued his professional career in the Liga Mexicana de Beisbol, posting a 2-1 record. Throughout his playing career spanning eight seasons across all levels, Bennett appeared in 187 games (98 starts), recording 41 wins and striking out 623 batters over 625.1 innings.
Bennett was a standout pitcher at the University of Louisville from 2017 to 2019, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Sport Administration with a minor in Communications. As a Cardinal, he compiled an impressive 20-6 record with a 3.51 ERA, serving as team captain and helping lead Louisville to College World Series appearances in both 2017 and 2019. His freshman campaign earned him First Team Freshman All-American honors and All-ACC selection in 2017, an honor he repeated in 2018.
At Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati (2012-2016), Bennett was drafted in the 40th round by the San Francisco Giants in 2016 and helped his team capture the Ohio State High School Baseball Championship in 2015. Before joining Kent State, Bennett served as a pitching coach at Alpha Baseball Facility in Mason, Ohio, from 2019 to 2024. During his tenure, he provided specialized instruction to high-performing high school athletes, assisted in running baseball camps and player development programs, and served as a coach. He gained expertise in advanced analytical tools, including TrackMan, Edgertronic, and NewtForce Mound technology.
