Phil Tizio is entering his sixth year with Kent State’s athletic department in December 2021. He was promoted to Associate Athletic Director for Compliance in March 2022 where he will be responsible for leading the compliance office. Additionally, he will continue to provide compliance education to coaches, staff and student-athletes.
Tizio came to the Golden Flashes from Western Carolina University, where he served as the athletic department’s primary compliance contact and coordinated all daily compliance operations for the Catamounts. Prior to that he worked as a compliance coordinator at The Ohio State University. Tizio was responsible for assisting in the athletic department’s monitoring efforts, agent registration, initial and continuing eligibility and ensuring adherence to NCAA and Big Ten regulations.
In addition, Tizio served as a compliance intern at Youngstown State University where he also completed his MBA. As an undergraduate at Seton Hill University, he competed in football and track and field, while working in the compliance office.
Phil and his field trial winning dog, Beau reside in Uniontown, Ohio.
