Randal Holt was named as an assistant men's basketball coach in May of 2021. During Holt's first season, he helped the Golden Flashes to a 23-11 record and the second-longest win streak in program history (14). The Flashes made an appearance in the MAC Championship game and boasted one of the best defenses in the conference. Following the end of the 2022-23 season, Holt helped lead the Flashes to a 28-7 record, a MAC Conference title, and an appearance in the NCAA March Madness Tournament.
Holt rejoins the Golden Flashes after two seasons with Stony Brook on Geno Ford's staff. The former Kent State guard (2009-13) was the Director of Player Development for the Golden Flashes in the 2018-19 season after finishing an overseas basketball career.
During his Kent State playing career, Holt made two MAC semifinal appearances. He was a celebrated three-point marksman during his playing days and is second all-time in three-pointers made with 247. The Cleveland Glenville High School product averaged 14.7 points while leading Kent State to a 21-14 record as a senior in 2012-13, sinking 83 3-pointers while shooting 39 percent from distance.
After his senior year, Holt went on to play professional basketball overseas with Orange Academy Ratiopharm (2014-15) and the Dresden Titans (2015-17).
