Brandon Larson was hired by Head Coach Jeff Duncan in August 2013 to fill the role of volunteer assistant coach for Kent State baseball.
Larson brings extensive playing experience to the program. After transferring from a junior college to LSU in 1997, Larson led the Tigers to the College World Series title and Larson was named MVP for his performance.
The standout infielder was drafted in the first round of the MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds in 1997 and found success in the Minor Leagues. Larson was named a Triple-A All-Star in 2002 and 2003 and was named the Reds' Minor League Player of the Year in the latter. He made his Major League debut in 2001 and had stints in the Majors with different teams through the 2005 season.
Most recently, Larson played for the Somerset Patriots of independent baseball's Atlantic League in 2008.
