HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: Graduated in 1986 from Welland High and Vocational School in Welland, Ontario, Canada where she excelled in volleyball, track, and badminton…KSU CAREER: Quickly established herself as one of the best players in Kent history by earning Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year honors in 1988…The fleet-footed outfielder lettered four times for the Flashes (1988-91)…Nicknamed “Turbo”…First team All-MAC and All-Mid-East Region in 1990 and 1991…All-America second team in 1990…Led Kent to its one MAC softball championship and NCAA World Series berth in 1990-91…Second team All-MAC in 1989…Chosen MAC Female Athlete of the Decade in 1992…Only player in Kent history to surpass 200-hit plateau with 219 in her career…Set 13 Kent records including season (.429) and career batting average (.396), season (25) and career (64) stolen bases and season (38) and career (107) runs scored…All-MAC Academic first team in 1990-91…One of Kent’s honorees at the MAC’s 50th Anniversary Celebration in 1996…POST KSU CAREER: Member of Canada’s 1996 Olympic Softball Team…Helped the team to a fifth place finish by posting the fourth highest batting average of the tournament…Won silver medal in 1991 Pan-American Games in Havanna, Cuba after leading the games with six stolen bases…Member of Canada Cup Team 1993-96…Named Welland’s Female Athlete of the Year in 1989, 1991, and 1996…Also chosen Welland Sportsman of the Year in 1995…Named to the Canada Senior National All-Star Team as an outfielder in 1993 and 1995…Played for the Saronno Softball Club (semi-pro) in Italy in 1992…PERSONAL: Retired from Team Canada after a nine-year career…Currently working as a Quality Assurance Analyst in Management Information Systems at Casino Niagra in Niagra Falls, Canada…Continues to work with the Canadian Olympic Team speaking at camps and clinics…Active in Employability Initiative Program and Business Education Council where she serves as a community speaker to teacher and students.
