KENT, Ohio – Kent State Athletics has announced the naming of two spaces based on the generosity of Luke, '14, and Renee Wollet: the Wollet Family Safety Room in Dix Stadium and the Nicole Hinton Stratton Athletic Training Office in the MAC Center Annex Athletic Training Room. The named spaces honor the legacy of Luke's late father and the contributions of Nicole Hinton Stratton, '98, and her family to the Kent State community.
Located in Room 106 of Dix Stadium, the Wollet Family Safety Room provides a dedicated space for Kent State Football safeties to prepare for competition. The Nicole Hinton Stratton Athletic Training Office serves as an important support and administrative space for athletic training operations. The office was named in honor of Nicole Hinton Stratton, who was a devoted supporter of her husband, Trent Stratton, '98, throughout his 23-year career at the university.
A three-time all-conference safety and team captain for the Golden Flashes, Luke remains deeply grateful for the role Kent State Football played in shaping his life. The naming of these spaces reflects both his connection to the university and his desire to honor individuals who have made a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
The tribute to the Wollet family recognizes the legacy of Luke's father, who was regarded by many of Luke's former teammates as a second father. His generosity, support and presence created bonds that extended well beyond the football field and continue to be remembered by those who knew him.
The recognition of Nicole Hinton Stratton is equally personal. The Wollet and Stratton families reconnected while Nicole and Luke's father were both receiving treatment at the Cleveland Clinic. Their shared experiences forged a meaningful bond and inspired the Wollets to honor Nicole's memory and the Stratton family's longstanding contributions to Kent State Athletics.
"My daughters, Melina and Ava, and I are so moved at the generosity of the Wollet family for honoring Nicole in this manner," Trent Stratton said. "Kent State has been such a part of our family and our lives and it's amazing that Nicole's memory will be recognized. I met Nicole when in grad school at KSU, while she was completing her degree in education. Our daughters are completing degrees from KSU and my interaction with Luke during his playing career is one of the many fond memories that I have from my tenure at the university. I cannot speak highly enough about Luke and all he's been through and how impactful his family has been for him. My family is very grateful to the university for all that has been provided to us, and cannot thank the Wollet family enough for the generous gift and honoring Nicole in this way."
Through these naming recognitions, Kent State Athletics celebrates the lasting impact of the Wollet and Stratton families and their commitment to supporting future generations of Golden Flashes.
