As a Forward, Scott is the all-time career leading scorer for the Kent program for goals, assists and points from his four years of 1974-1977. After a modest Freshman year, Scott’s scoring exploded as a Sophomore and carried through his Senior season. He was ranked in the OCSA among the State Scoring Leaders for Goals and Points during the 1975-77 seasons and shattered all scoring records at Kent by the conclusion of only his third season to rank as the program’s dominant leader.
Scott’s total of 11 goals and 6 assists for 17 points in 13 games in 1975 as a Sophomore led the Mid-American Conference for its Scoring Leaders as #1 in goals, assists and points in the final year of that League recognition during the 1971-75 period. This output of points also ranked #18 among the OCSA Scoring Leaders. The 6 assists placed Scott in the OCSA Players Record Book tied at #11 for Most Assists in One Season. He was recognized as All-MAC Honorable Mention as well as an OCSA All-Ohio Honorable Mention.
During his Junior year in 1976, Scott had a whopping 18 goals and 2 assists for 20 points in 14 games which established new Kent records for goals and points in a season plus pushed him to the top of the Kent program for Most Goals in a Career at that time with 29 and Most Points in a Career with 37 after only three seasons. His scoring prowess ranked Tied at #7 in the OSCA State Scoring Leaders list. Scott again made the OCSA Players Record Book with 4 goals in one game which ties at #4 all-time. He opened the season with 4 goals versus Capital on Wednesday 9/22/76 and repeated the feat versus Youngstown State on Saturday 11/6/76. His 18 goals on the season rank in the OCSA Players Record Book at #12. Again, Scott earned OCSA All-Ohio Honorable Mention.
Scott served as a Co-Captain of the team during his Senior year of 1977. The scoring continued with 12 goals and 4 assists for 16 points in 13 games which ranked #13 in the OCSA. This output resulted in raising his career scoring records at Kent to Most Goals in a Career with 41, becoming the leader in Most Assists in a Career with 13 and having Most Points in a Career with 54. He averaged almost a goal per game for his four-year career. Scott’s 41 career goals rank in the OCSA Players Record Book at #17. Shots were not always recorded but it is likely that Scott ranks among the Kent career leaders. For a third consecutive year, Scott was featured as an OCSA All-Ohio Honorable Mention selection. He is one of only two Kent players to hold the distinction of being a three-time All-Ohio honoree.
Scott earned four Varsity Letters in Men’s Soccer. As a long-awaited honor, he was elected into the Kent Varsity K Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019. Kent Athletics then announced in 2020 the recognition of All-Decade Teams for Men’s Soccer. For the 1970s team, Scott is named at a Forward spot as the most prolific scorer in the history of the program.
