Volleyball Outlasted by Ohio, 3-1

The Kent State University volleyball teams (9-9, 5-4 MAC) late rally in the game four fell short as Ohio University (17-3, 8-0 MAC) won 30-22, 26-30, 30-23, 30-27 Friday night (Oct. 24) to remain unbeaten in the Mid-American Conference (MAC).

After producing some solid hitting last week, the Golden Flashes recorded .111, .275 and .116 in the first three games. before compiling a .316 percentage in the fourth. Kent State finished with a .199 hitting clip on the evening.

Sophomore Danielle Holt (Galion, Ohio/Galion) had 17 kills and three aces, while junior Michelle Corniffe (Ajax, Ontario/Ajax) tallied 14 kills on .429 hitting (14-2-28). Sophomore Jenny Weilert (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) added 10 kills and two blocks.

Senior Tarrin Pelton had a team-leading 13 digs, while juniors Kara Warnke (Aurora, Ohio/Lock Haven) and Ruth Ladurner-Schnitzer (Lana, Italy/Franz Kafka) finished with three blocks.

Kent State visits Buffalo, N.Y. tomorrow (Oct. 25) to battle the University at Buffalo at 7 p.m.
